Apparently built some time in the 1700s but there was never an official opening nor are there any paintings or etchings of it's construction. I find it interesting they documented everything from their military exploits to their explorations and yet literally no painter recorded the building of these magnificent structures. Interestingly "house portraits" were all the rage in the 1700s too and yet no paintings or etchings of their construction exists at all either.
Then we have the supposed builder of the Champs-Élysées, André Le Nôtre.
"André Le Nôtre was a devout Catholic whose career and personal life were deeply intertwined with the Church, ranging from his early baptism to high-level commissions for prominent clergy.
The Vatican Connection: In 1679, Le Nôtre travelled to Italy where he was received by Pope Innocent XI. Legend says he was so charismatic that he broke protocol by hugging and kissing the Pope, a story that highlighted his high standing even in the eyes of the Holy See."
Just remember the other Pope Innocent III who he took his title from is the vatican shitstain of a pope who was responsible for the eradication of the Cathars, same guy who said "Kill them all and let God sort them out"....yes I can't imagine why we would question the ethics and morals of these people recording our history.
