Unusual Enhancement of Stratospheric Ozone Observed Over the North Bay of Bengal: Results Inferred From NetRAD-ASMA Camp

An unusual elevated ozone layer was observed in the stratospheric height, surpassing the maximum stratospheric ozone layer. This maximum stratospheric ozone layer is observed near the head Bay of Bengal–a region where the deepest convection is observed. The layer was between 2.1 and 2.4 km thick and persisted for more than 24 hr. We conclude that the compression of air masses or the entrance of mid-latitude air may be the cause of this enhanced stratospheric ozone layer.
