The Year of the Fire Horse (or Bing Wu) is one of the most rare combinations in the 60-year Chinese zodiac cycle. It represents a "double dose" of fire, as the Horse's inherent element is also fire.

A popular phrase for this year is "Mǎ Dào Chéng Gōng" (馬到成功), meaning "Success is secured upon the horse's arrival"

The most famous myth explains why the Horse is the 7th animal in the Chinese Zodiac. During a race across a vast river held by the Jade Emperor, the Horse was a frontrunner until it neared the shore. A Snake had secretly coiled itself around the Horse's hoof. Just as they reached the finish line, the Snake lunged forward, startling the Horse and causing it to shy back. The Snake took 6th place, leaving the Horse with 7th.

Tianma - Horse of Heaven:

Literally meaning, "horse of heaven" or "heavenly horses", mythically Tianma was a fabled winged horse with composite attributes, such as dragonesque features; and, sometimes the Tianma was linked to certain astral or stellar phenomena, or constellations. The horses could also be real, now somewhat ordinary domestic or semi-domestic horses, but in the medieval period of history somewhat extraordinary (and legendary) for their stature and prowess.
