The painting is part of a Fresco in the Padua Baptistery, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, which is a religious building found on the Piazza del Duomo next to the cathedral in Padua. Preserved inside is one of the most important fresco cycles of the 14th century, a masterpiece by Giusto de Menabuoi.
Symbolism decoded: Jesus symbolically represents his divine race which illuminates at the end of the Great Year (Pisces) and enters into the Golden Age (Aquarius) with the mortals who have passed the Weighing of the Heart.
