According to NASA, this month’s supermoon will be the last one to occur at a full moon until Oct. 2025, with nearly 11 months elapsing without a supermoon being visible in the night sky.
There will be four straight supermoons between Oct. 2025 and Jan. 2026, according to the agency.
You're welcome. That would be amazing to actually sit with the Elders and hear their stories. It's getting harder to find anything of relevance on the web these days and it's thwarting my ability to get good information. I found this document, The Sky of Knowledge A Study of the Ethnoastronomy of the Aboriginal People of Australia if you wish to have a look 😊
The arrival of Earth’s second moon has taken the internet by storm. Recently, a study has revealed that we will have two moons for a period of two months
The eclipse will be visible across Europe, Africa, Greenland and North and South America, but you’ll need to set your alarm clock for this one. From London, the noticeable part of the eclipse (known as the umbral phase) will begin at 03:13 BST; maximum eclipse will take place at 03:44 BST; and the event will be over at 04:15 BST.
CWISE J1249 is zooming out of the Milky Way at about 1 million miles per hour. But it also stands out for its low mass, which makes it difficult to classify as a celestial object. It could be a low-mass star, or if it doesn’t steadily fuse hydrogen in its core, it would be considered a brown dwarf, putting it somewhere between a gas giant planet and a star.
This new object has yet another unique property. Data obtained with the W. M. Keck Observatory in Maunakea, Hawaii, show that it has much less iron and other metals than other stars and brown dwarfs. This unusual composition suggests that CWISE J1249 is quite old, likely from one of the first generations of stars in our galaxy.
This follows a previously-reported burst from this source 25 hours earlier (GCN #37211) and two additional bursts detected since then, indicating that this source has entered a bursting phase. This is the first BAT-detected activity from this source since 2016.
The current BAT catalog of burst times for this source is:
LUNAR OCCULTATION OF SATURN: The full Moon is about to swallow Saturn. On Aug. 21st, observers from South America to Europe (animated map) can watch a lunar occultation of the ringed planet. Saturn will dip in and out of the mountainous lunar limb before disappearing for ~45 minutes. Here's what it will look like. This rare event is a great photo-op for amateur astronomers with backyard telescopes. via spaceweather.com
From the 16th - 19th August there is going to be a very significant alignment. For those of you who have been following my info for the last few years you may remember when I uploaded this video about a very important and rare conjunction on the 21st December 2020:
Well this upcoming Jupiter/Saturn alignment on the 16th - 19th is the first major aspect of this 2020 conjunction - the Opening Square. Look how pivotal 2020 was and how everything changed for humanity from that time on, now in the lead up to this Jupiter/Saturn square on the 16th - 19th we can literally see them escalating their agenda to destroy the west and play out their own version of Biblical Prophecy. While modern astrologers no longer have access to the true meanings behind the movements and alignments of the celestial orbs you can be sure those who have stolen the ancient knowledge from our divine ancestors know exactly what these alignments herald and utilize them to benefit their own agenda both energetically and symbolically. So expect some dramatic escalation after this 16th - 19th Jupiter/Saturn square.
On August 21, another lunar phenomenon, the Lunar Occultation of Saturn, will take place. During this event, the moon will pass in front of Saturn, masking it from view for those in Latin America, Africa, and parts of Europe.
On August 7 and 8, Venus and Mercury will align, and on August 14, Mars and Jupiter will be in conjunction. Then, on August 28, six planets—Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn—will align, creating a spectacular celestial display similar to the planet parade that occurred on June 3.
The CHIME/FRB Collaboration reports a sudden high activity state from a repeating source of fast radio bursts (FRB 20240316A). Before this state of high activity, CHIME/FRB detected four bursts in November and December of 2023 and one in March of 2024. However, since 2024-07-22 at 11:29:43 UTC, twenty-two bursts have been detected from the source, nine of which were broadcast through CHIMEâs Virtual Observatory Event Service. Four bursts were detected in 6 minutes on 2024-07-22, five bursts were detected in 13 minutes on 2024-07-23, and thirteen bursts were detected in 18 minutes on 2024-07-24.
Sky-watchers, set a reminder for the end of July, when two meteor showers—the Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids—are expected to be visible at the same time. On July 30 and 31, the two meteor showers should be at their peak. But those aren't the only nights to look upwards: There should be a greater than average number of fireballs and shooting stars in the sky every night, from now through early August.
