The sweeping system is “a generational winter storm event,” the National Weather Service said Monday — and urged those along its path to take it seriously.
Snow days are very rare in New Orleans, and only a handful of times in history has the city experienced snowfall that accumulates and sticks to the ground rather than melting on impact.
But for the first time in decades, the Crescent City and most of south Louisiana may see an inch or more of snow as a winter storm moves over the area in the coming days.
Temperatures will start to drop on Sunday, with below-freezing temps expected to begin early Monday, according to the National Weather Service in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
Heavy sea-effect snow has been affecting parts of Japan over the past couple of days, with more than 1 m (3 feet) of snow already registered in some regions and snowfall expected to persist through Saturday. Some areas have already received twice the usual snowfall.
A state of emergency has been declared in the states of Kentucky and Virginia, and parts of the US unaccustomed to severe cold, including Mississippi and Florida, have been warned to expect treacherous conditions.
Fimbulwinter cometh? This is not just a short shot of freezing cold that will be over in a few days, this is going to be a very prolonged event all through January, if you live in these areas, please prepare for going days without power, the grids are not going to be able to handle such a huge swath of arctic temps for an extended amount of time.
NB: Another very disturbing factor is the lack of media coverage about this dangerous cold and the potential for days without power, there are going to be a lot of deaths with this.
I have noticed (from various comments on youtube channels) that a lot of people from around the world are noticing a thick, lingering fog in their area(s) and it's making people sick. In the cold event of 536 AD, it was stated that ''A mysterious fog plunged Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Asia into darkness, day and night-for 18 months.'' Also noted, ''a cataclysmic volcanic eruption in Iceland spewed ash across the Northern Hemisphere early in 536. Two other massive eruptions followed, in 540 and 547.'' We have seen these eruptions have already taken place as well as long dormant volcanos also becoming active. Also, the sulphur dioxide emissions are globally pervasive. I know we have called fimbulwinter before but it truly feels like it may be upon us especially with the addition of political events that are also playing out.
Yeh this is not like anything I've seen before either, even the Texas Freeze in 2021 wasn't like this and along with all the other anomalous volcanic activity, increased methane, fog and also the political shitshow and war ramping up it just all seems to be converging now. This wasn't the case in past years.
Is the Fimbulwinter (Mighty Winter) finally upon us...I don't always agree with this guy, but he's spot on about this being unprecedented and he's done a good round up of those huge anomalous waves in this vid too.
I just watched this the other day and I don't usually 'follow' this guy but decided to check out his page on a whim to see what he had to say. Some good information and agree the grid won't be able to handle the needs of the citizens.

Parts of New York under State of Emergency as third lake-effect snowstorm brings heavy snowfall
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency for parts of Western New York, the Finger Lakes, Central New York, and the North Country regions, as heavy lake-effect snow is expected to bring up to 90 cm (3 feet) of accumulation in the third lake-effect snowstorm of the season.
Weakest polar vortex for October in 40 years could affect winter weather across North America and Europe
The polar vortex forming in the stratosphere over the Northern Hemisphere this year has been the weakest in early October in the past 40 years.
Typically, the polar vortex contains cold Arctic air, preventing it from escaping. However, in its current weakened state, the vortex is causing shifts in atmospheric circulation. This weakening may allow cold air to escape from the polar regions, potentially affecting winter weather patterns across North America and Europe.
